After almost a year, the Windows 8 operating system will finally get a Facebook app of its own. During Microsoft’s Build conference keynote in San Francisco on Wednesday, Chief Executive Steve Ballmer noted that a native app from the social network is going to Windows 8, together with other marquee applications such as Flipboard and NFL Fantasy Football. Thus far there are no firm dates for the release for any of them.
News Corp. (NASDAQ:NWSA): Current price $32.12
In its struggle against Mediaset, News Corp has brought a suit against the telecommunications regulator in an Italian court, for allegedly favoring former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s media firm. News Corp.’s local pay-television arm Sky Italia said Wednesday that it has sued the regulator known as Agcom. Sky is seeking roughly $130 million from Agcom for blocking its efforts in the advertising market with rules that have benefited Mediaset since 2011, according to two knowledgeable sources, who also said that Mediaset is not named as a defendant.
Real Goods Solar (NASDAQ:RSOL): Current price $2.57
The commercial and utility arm of Real Goods, SolarRGS Energy, has been chosen by St. Albans Solar Partners to deploy a new 2.2 megawatt solar farm in Saint Albans, which is the biggest PV system in Vermont. RGS Energy will create, install, monitor, and maintain the solar power system. Construction for the project is should commence in July and is scheduled to be completed by November. It is predicted that the fixed array ground mount solar system will generate sufficient power to provide electricity for 400 homes.
